The legendary Woodstock festival will again be held forty-one years after its first edition, and this time will be in Brazil later this year, while the Maquinaria Festival will expand to Argentina and Chile.

Woodstock Brazil
Negotiations have been made since last year when the organizers of the original Woodstock came to Brazil to following the Maquinaria Festival. Since then, several meetings were made between organizers of both festivals. Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction leader and creator of Lollapalooza) also participated in the negotiations and was an important piece to.
The rights to the festival were acquired by brazilian businessman Eduardo Fischer and organization will be done by the same staff who organized the Maquinaria Festival.

Dates and place is already confirmed. Woodstock Brazil will be on 7, 8 and 9 October September (as Veja Magazine noticed here) at a farm in Itu, to approximately 100 km from São Paulo.

Update I  - Dates by Veja Magazine IS NOT CONFIRMED. Probably can be on 9, 10, 11 because 12 October is holyday in Brazil and the organizers want a dayoff to people back home safety and rest.

For this edition, the festival won’t focus only on peace and love but also on sustainability.

Woodstock Line-up
When a festival is announced the first thing that everyone imagine is “What bands will play?”
Some great bands is cogitated for the Woodstock Brazil. Some of the strongest names being considered are: Foo Figthers, Linkin Park, Bob Dylan, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam and Limp Bizkit.

Two of these bands are practically confirmed: Linkin Park and Green Day

Tickets

Sales will begin on the internet in May (approximately).
We have no further information about it but if it is follow standards in some great festivals in USA or Europe may be that the tickets are sold as follows:

- Simple: Tickets for 1 day, 2 days or 3 days
- Economic: Tickets (2 or 3 days) + Tent camping
- Complete: Tickets (2 or 3 days) + Tent camping + Parking

The expansion of Maquinaria Festival
All infrastructure of Woodstock Brazil will be led by the experienced team of Maquinaria but do not think that the festival will succumb to it. A source says that organizers are planning to take it to Argentina and Chile and return to Brazil next year.

The Woodstock festival occurred in 1969. A second edition was held in 1994 and a third in 1999, marking the 30th birthday of the inaugural event, which was less for the history of music and more by problems such as violence, rape and arson caused by the public.
